Mordheim – Secondary Missions card decks [REVISED]

Mordheim – Carnival of Chaos

Mordheim – Carnival of Chaos

Last week we rebooted our Mordheim Campaing in Joensuu (Finland), and therefore I decided to start playing a new warband. I considered to play Beastman or Undead, but finally I thought about playing with Chaos because of the hype around the The End of Times – Warhammer Campaign, where Chaos is going to destroy the Warhammer world. I wanted to contribute with my Nurgle’s warband! So, my new warband is Carnival of Chaos. Once more I’m going to use original models from GW. I love the “carnival” look they have. Getting these guys was a bit difficult (and so expensive), but I think they’re worth it. The miniatures are not the best ones in the market nowadays, but they have something special. If you are a collector, you will probably understand me. Fortunately I could buy the whole original warband, plus two extra henchmen (I have not prepared them yet). So I already have the core for my warband, but probably I will need extra models in the future. Indeed, the original warband doesn’t include a second Tainteed one and therefore, I need to find an alternative. I also have five nurglings. I don’t know why, but I love these little guys. Perhaps because their malicious faces! The Carnival of Chaos models are specially nice. One has a bagpipe! In this case I discarded preparing my own bases because I don’t have enough time. Thus I bought resin bases from Micro Artsimulating a wood floor. They are really nice and cheap! I bought two 20x20mm blisters and another one of 25x25mm for the Brutes and Master. I think I...
Mordheim – Witch Hunters, an update!

Mordheim – Witch Hunters, an update!

The Mordheim Campaign I’m playing in Joensuu is ongoing. After a dozen of games, my warband starts to be a hard opponent (of course, depending on the dice). Fortunately, Wichthunters warband can be formed by maximum 12 miniatures, so I don’t have excuse to completly paint it! With these models I have tried to simulate a dark enviroment…a classical Mordheim atmosphere! I have painted almost all miniatures during my Holidays in Spain, excepting three zealots. I will hopefully paint these three guys in the following weeks. To paint these models I decided to simulate a dark and dirty atmosphere. The idea was to represent the real conditions of Mordheim after the impact (and before, right!), a ruined and pestilent city.  To achieve this goal I have used an wide brownish color palette, where chocolate brown from Vallejo plays a key role. Basically, I have mix every color with chocolate brown to get a dark tone. I specially like faces, because I was afraid of this point. I have changed my classical recipe for skin (tan and dwarf sking from Vallejo Game Color). Instead of tan I have used beige brown such as base color, and then I have worked on lightings with Dwarf Skin, and finally, golden yellow. To remark the shadow areas I have applied a thin layer of chocolate brown (yeah, once more!). On the other hand, Angusin discovered me an amazing color from Citadel: Blood for the Blood God. An AMAZING color. I cannot use a different word to define this jar. The glosiness and texture is amazing. Finally, here you can see a couple of...
Mordheim — Secondary Missions card decks

Mordheim — Secondary Missions card decks

Time ago we showed you here a very interesting project about secondary mission cards to play Mordheim. We have also included in this project another two small ideas: one related with the playing order and the other to ease the critical hits resolution. Thank you very much to Drawer, Khaelion, Enzorko, Salsa, Sutenööri and others for their feedback; and Tenebrae Lux for proofread english version! Now, you can freely download the final version for your PnP cards. Secondary Mission cards Regular Mordheim games could be very flat, especially when you play multiplayer games where you cannot aspire to reach the main scenario objective. Therefore, secondary missions enrich games by providing extra objectives. Notice that these objectives never replace the main objective and they are not mandatory! The idea is to play with more options, above all when everything is against you. This additional module to play Mordheim games includes about 80 cards in two separate decks: missions and rewards cards. How to use secondary mission cards? Before the battle starts, each player draw two reward cards and three secondary mission cards but chooses only 2. Each player will have a hand of two missions and two rewards cards. You can or cannot complete these secondary missions, it’s up to you. Secondary missions should be kept in secret (that is why we use cards). Thus, the game is more interesting because we cannot exactly prevent the enemy taking his objectives. However, his actions can expose him and his objectives. Rewards are retrieved at the end of the game, once the battle has been resolved and you check if you have...
Mordheim – Wichthunters and how to build urban bases

Mordheim – Wichthunters and how to build urban bases

After almost a year playing a campaign with my mercenaries (Mariemburg), my group has decided to re-start the campaign with new players and new warband. And I have prepared a Wichthunter Warband to play this new campaign. To build my new Warband I got the original Mordheim Wichthunter box. However, some models are really awful and therefore, I decided to find some substitutes. I replaced the old flagelants by flagelants from the 6th Warhammer Edition (if I’m right). I don’t like the new plastic ones, because they looks like people from Catachan….and flagelants are poor people with mental disorders. They cannot have that kind of muscles!!!. I also replaced the Warrior Priest by a fantastic model from Avatar of War. Cheap and high quality!. And finally, I fell in love with some Tercio Creativo’s models, a Spanish brand that have created a XVI century game with some fantasy details. The models fit perfectly with Mordheim!.   Here you can find my rooster (500gc): On the other hand, I wanted to explain how I built the bases. You only need foam and some pieces from warhammer or somewhere else. We can use these traces to add some details to our bases: skulls, chains, weapons, etc. Anything is OK. To create a ruin looking we only need to cut small pieces of foam. Try to create variety: big, small, thin, thick, a triangle, a square and so forth. Then, we have to “sculpt” some texture. This is very easy. We only need to remove small “triangles” from the borders of these pieces with a knife. We don’t need to remove the...
