Santiago y cierra España! Cuirassiers for my TYW Imperial army

Santiago y cierra España! Cuirassiers for my TYW Imperial army

I’m working on a very special project, my very own 15mm Thirty Years War army. Unfortunately I don’t have time to paint my own miniatures, as I’m always working on comissions. However, the miniatures from Totentanz have inspired me in a way never seen before in myself. And therefore, I exploit all the gaps I have to paint it. Furthermore, the recent rulebook published by El Kraken: Tercios Liber Millitum is the perfect excuse to use these miniatures.  I have finished today another mounted unit, some Cuirassiers. Take a closer look! I have painted 6 horse riders to compose a mounted unit to play Tercios. I have destributed them in two bases (3 miniatures / base) to form a 8cm front. The banner has been painted by hand over a copper sheet. If you are interested, you can find a complet painting guide about how to paint miniatures of this period here. The horses has been painted using this color: Dark brown: shadows with Dark oxide 302 (Panzer Aces, Vallejo), base with Flat brown 984 (Vallejo) and a slight light with Orange brown 981 (Vallejo) Light brown: Shadows with Chocolate brown 872 (Vallejo), base with English uniform 921 (Vallejo) and lights with a bit of white Grey: shadows with Black grey 862 (Vallejo), base with Basalt grey 869 (Vallejo) and lights with a bit of white   And here you can see my whole mounted force: a light cavalry unit, a heavy cavalry unit and the mounted General.   And this is the current status of my Imperial Army using Totentanz Miniatures: Share:Haz clic para compartir en Facebook (Se...
Eleven Tree Designs Tudor House 15mm – Painting

Eleven Tree Designs Tudor House 15mm – Painting

It’s time to finish painting one of the Tudor Houses in 15mm from Eleven Tree Designs. On June we built a great 15mm medieval house from Eleven Tree Designs. See the post HERE. It’s a laser cut model full of textures and impressive details for a laser cut building in such a small scale (it has more texture than the 4ground ones). With the building done and the homemade wood texture for the floors ready, it’s time to paint the house to a standard tabletop level. We start priming in grey the 3 blocks of the house. I do it with airbrush and AK Grey Primer. The interior parts receive a black primer coat. With the priming part done, we can look at those really great textures from the laser engraver. We continue with the airbrush, this time painting all the exterior walls in white (Tamiya and Vallejo for the retouches with brush). With some tape we mask all the zones we want to stay in white, so we can paint the stone areas in Dark Grey from Vallejo. With the masks still placed, we drybrush the stones with Vallejo Sky Grey. When the mask is removed we can see a nice contrast between the two areas. For the roof, we mask the rest of the house, paint it with Vallejo Red and wash it with AK Dark Brown. When the wash becomes dull it’s time to remove the excess to show the real red color of the tiles, except in the recesses, where the wash makes a great contrast. I usually use a cotton bud or a makeup...
Thirty Years War in 15mm – Totentanz Miniatures

Thirty Years War in 15mm – Totentanz Miniatures

A new Spanish brand has born: Totentanz Miniatures. At the moment, it has two 15mm ranges: American Civil War and Thirty years war. Although it’s totally new, it has already conquested the heart of too many wargamers because the oustanding quality of their models. Take a look at some TYW references. Here you can see the packing. Totentanz Miniatures follows the classical disposition: blisters with 8 figures (infantry) or 3 figures (cavalry). The bag of commanders includes less figures, but every model is amazing. They look like 28mm miniatures!. The normal prize is 4,25€ per blister (commanders one is cheaper). Now you can take a look at the details of these models. Sincerely, we consider them like the best 15mm TYW miniatures on the market. They are 15mm, can you believe it!? I think a picture is better than thousand words. Commanders: Musketeers: Arcabussiers: Pikeman (“Coseletes” or armoured  on the left and “picas secas” or unarmoured on the right)  I have already started painting them following the Dalmau’s Rocroi masterpiece. Because the amount and definition of the detail, the painting job is a pleasure!   I have already painted the pikemen, and now I will start with the shooters Share:Haz clic para compartir en Facebook (Se abre en una ventana nueva)Haz clic para compartir en Twitter (Se abre en una ventana nueva)Haz clic para compartir en Google+ (Se abre en una ventana nueva)Haz clic para enviar por correo electrónico a un amigo (Se abre en una ventana nueva)Haz clic para imprimir (Se abre en una ventana...
